On Monday in Brooklyn, Ryan Carson, a poet and activist from New York, was fatally stabbed in front of his fiancée. The horrific attack was captured on heartbreaking video.
According to CBS News, the 32-year-old victim, Mr. Carson, was stabbed while standing in the street with his girlfriend at around 4 a.m. in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
On the security footage of the incident, Mr. Carson and his fiancée can be seen relaxing on a bench at a bus stop after returning from a wedding in Long Island. The two get to their feet and walk down the block.
Just in front of them, a man was seen kicking scooters that were parked near to the curb. “What the f-k are you looking at?” he demanded. before facing them and stabbed Mr. Carson numerous times.
Returning, the assailant drew near the horrified victim, who raised her hand to block him as she lay bleeding on the ground. He spat at her and then ran away.
Despite being brought to Kings County Hospital Center after being stabbed in the heart, Mr. Carson died as a result of his injuries. According to the police, the investigation is still underway and no one has been taken into custody.
Notably, Ryan Carson was a well-known activist and campaign manager with the New York Public Research Group, whose most recent work focused on boosting recycling and solid waste management. His activities were centered on sustainability and environmental issues, according to friends who spoke with The Post.
In addition to being a beloved coworker, friend, and employee, Ryan was a passionate, gifted, and enthusiastic promoter of children and the environment. His pleasant manner, big laugh, and all-encompassing brilliance, the group said in a statement, were major factors in his success in furthering the issues he was very passionate about in both his professional and personal lives.
Social media users expressed shock over the “senseless killing” and poured out condolences for the beloved campaigner. Chi Osse, a member of the New York City Council, wrote: “I’m horrified to learn of the horrific murder of advocate Ryan Carson in Brooklyn today. We lost this selfless defender of his neighborhood. In addition to sending his family my condolences, I’m adamant about putting an end to this senseless bloodshed.
