(Newsleaks) – LAS VEGAS, Nev. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a suspect was found and killed in a shooting at UNLV on Wednesday.

At 11:53 a.m., UNLV reported the event in a post on X, saying, “University Police responding to report of shots fire in BEH evacuate to a safe area, RUN-HIDE-FIGHT.”

At 11:59 a.m., the school updated that University Police were on the scene. “responding to a confirmed active shooter situation in BEH. This is not a test.”

At 12:04 p.m., Las Vegas police reported that officers were responding to preliminary reports of an active shooter on the UNLV campus. “There appears to be multiple victims at this time,” said LVMPD, recommending people to avoid the area.

At 12:19 p.m., UNLV announced in another post that officials were responding to another incident of rounds fired in the student union. “Evacuate the area,” warned the post.

Las Vegas police said at 12:32 p.m. that one suspect had been found and was deceased.

UNLV was advised to remain in place at 12:58 p.m. “Police are evacuating buildings one at a time,” according to the school.

UNLV informed on social media that its campus, as well as all other NSHE institutions in southern Nevada, are now closed for the remainder of the day.

LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill declared there was “no further threat” at 1:34 p.m. Authorities stated that “a number of victims” had been brought to local hospitals.

LVMPD posted on X just before 2 p.m., “The suspect is deceased.” Right now, we know there are three victims, but the degree of their injuries is unknown. This figure is subject to change. We will keep you updated as soon as we learn more.”

The department will issue another report at 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

According to LVMPD, a hotline has been established for people affected by Wednesday’s shooting. People can contact the department at 702-455-2433 for reunification and victim services.

According to officials, a reunification center has also been established in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
