Woman forced into mental hospital by cop ex-lover speaks out about viral video

Ronald Davis, a Pennsylvania State Trooper, is detained after being accused of false imprisonment.

The married Pennsylvania state trooper’s ex-girlfriend has spoken up about the experience of being falsely admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

“I didn’t anticipate becoming a political football. The 37-year-old Michelle Perfanov told the New York Post, “I just want to clear my name.”

In a video released by the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office, Perfanov can be seen fighting with her ex-boyfriend, Trooper Ronald Davis, who is attempting to arrest her before other authorities arrive.

Felony strangling, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault, recklessly harming another person, and official oppression are among the allegations against Davis, who was detained last week. According to the district attorney’s office, he is accused of starting a campaign last month to have his ex committed to a mental health facility, including by contacting other state troopers and saying the woman had mental health difficulties.

As legal action is still underway, Perfanov told the New York Post that the footage of Davis detaining her “speaks for itself” and declined to comment further.

“It’s just unfortunate that it had to get to that point,” she continued. I simply don’t want everyone’s families and possessions involved in this.

After other officers failed to find the woman last month, Davis apparently went to detain her at a nearby state forest. He wasn’t acting as a police officer in his official capacity because he wasn’t on duty. Near the end of the video, more police officers can be seen arriving on the scene.

According to authorities, Perfanov spent five days at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill despite not exhibiting any indications of suicide intentions throughout that time. On August 26, she was granted her parole, and the police questioned her about the incident.

She may be heard shouting, “You’re insane,” on the footage. “You’re completely crazy,” then you portray me as nuts.”

Investigators discovered texts between the ex-couple in which suicide was briefly discussed, leading them to suspect she was wrongfully sent to the mental hospital.

Perfanov texted Davis at one point, “I think I’m going to drive off a cliff,” the New York Post reported. “If this is where I’m supposed to die, then so be it.”

“I think I’m going to drive off a cliff,” Perfanov wrote in one text to Davis, according to the New York Post. “If this is where I’m supposed to die then so be it.”

My mental health doesn’t matter I’m a useless old stupid uneducated piece of s–t,” she wrote in another, adding she was going to “go out in style,” according to the Post.

Davis allegedly attempted to use the texts as evidence that Perfanov required mental health treatment, but the prosecution claimed the texts failed to provide the whole context of the case.
